Hives for Heroes gives Veterans and First Responders purpose, community, and a reason to keep going, through beekeeping and peer mentorship. Melisae is the free, open tool built to carry that work.
From surviving to thriving.
Why it matters
For a Veteran or First Responder, a hive can be a reason to get up, a community that shows up, and a mission that never quits. Hives for Heroes has carried that promise since 2018, growing into one of the most connected beekeeping networks anywhere. Melisae is proud to carry the tools.
Your hives, your records, your community, kept on your own device and credited to Hives for Heroes in the open pollinator atlas. Free, forever.
Opens right in your browser. Nothing to install, no account, free forever.

Inside the app
Join with the Hives for Heroes link and the app opens to your community. The Hives for Heroes mark, motto, and a tap-through to hivesforheroes.org ride along at the top, and every observation you log is credited to Hives for Heroes.
No account to make, no signal to find. It works in the yard, offline, with your gloves on.
The mission
Heroes rediscover their why through beekeeping, mentorship, and a mission that never stops.
Hives for Heroes meets Veterans and First Responders where they are and gives them what so many are still searching for: purpose, community, and a reason to keep going. Through peer-to-peer mentorship, Heroes and experienced beekeepers walk together, rebuilding confidence, restoring purpose, and working to reduce suicide. Founded in 2018 with a single hive in Houston, it is now one of the most connected beekeeping networks anywhere.
What you get
No cost, no ads, no accounts, no data sold. The full app, open-source and yours to keep.
Your observations flow into an open pollinator atlas, credited to Hives for Heroes, so the work of keeping bees also serves the science.
Works with no signal, in any yard. Your records live on your device. Nothing leaves it unless you choose.
The Melisae mesh connects keepers nearby, surplus, skills, and support, even without internet. Mentorship that travels.
Why it's free
Melisae is open-source and free for everyone, and no one owns it. We build the tools; the people and communities doing the real work decide what to do with them. That is the whole idea.
